McKayla Maroney's Meme Knowledge Is...Impressive [London Olympics]

Aug 11, 2012 5:00 PM

Most impressive. Here is a photo Maroney posted to instagram with teammates Aly Raisman and Kyla Ross posing for a picture at their hotel maybe? Trying to get in a quick swim. Their luck ran out however, as they were informed the pool's closed.

Is it possible, that McKayla turned lemons into lemonade and combined two memes to create one giant, Olympic meme hybrid when she wrote "The pool is closed.. #notimpressed"?

The safe money is on it being a coincidence. But if the Olympics have taught us anything it's that we must dare to dream.

Relive McKayla Maroney's Phenomenal Vault In Super-Slow Motion [Video]

Jul 31, 2012 9:30 PM

While judges found room for deductions for which it seems nobody else can, McKayla Maroney's vault early in today's women's team gymnastics final was still strong enough to set an unstoppable pace that resulted in the United States taking gold. (It wasn't a surprise she nailed the vault, though, if you've been paying attention.) Take a look at this version and see if you can find what the judges did—we sure can't. [NBC]

This is a Deadspin Video, in which strange sports moments are slowed down to ridiculous speeds and matched with indie music. This video features "Swinging London" by Magnetic Fields. See previous episodes here.
